Sorry about that. We'll have to work on providing the best education, for free, and we'll put them in Green Valley and Summerlin only (probably within walking distance of your house would be mandatory too?).

The idea behind magnet schools is to get the higher income parents to send their kids to school in some of the poorer neighborhoods, and maybe mix with the poor kids.

Or vice versa for other cities. In elementary, myself, along with some others in low income areas, had to take a 30 minute bus ride to a school in a much more affluent area. It was all part of some district rezoning.

I didn't understand at the time so I hated it. But now it makes sense.

That's not a magnet school. That's desgregation by bussing. Wars were fought about tis during the seventies.

Magnet schools were an attempt to achieve desegregation by attraction rather than compulsion.

I understand what you are saying but the elementary school was a magnet school. I guess they were trying to diversify the all white school.
