Alta is a very nice drive between Rancho and Valley View. One place I will never be able to afford and I do know there are other nice areas inside the box like Las Vegas Country Club

The box is a guideline I use for finding more "desirable" locations. Keyword is "guideline" not the end all be all definition of where in Vegas is good and bad, but a ball park idea of whats good and bad
I certainly didn't "call you out" Mr. Sensitive-- I was just commenting on where some of the nicest houses I've seen happen to be-- take a Xanax!

It felt that way. The other poster was calling me out more by saying I just crossed out "the most vibrant part of Vegas"

Probably not in your twenties, but never say never. You are young. Who knows where life may take you?

That map can be useful for timid newbies that are new to the valley.

-Families with small kids
-Single ladies
-Seniors
-People with zero street smarts
-People who don't know exactly what they want and just want to get a feel for the city.
-Those that are not used to minorities and want to experience them gradually on their own terms. Not abruptly, like having them as a next door neighbor.

The map makes sense.

Not just timid newbies, but savvy buyers interested in future resale or equity values.

Additionally, anyone who chooses to rent their home will find that the amount of rent you are able to get will be tied to each area too either up or down.

Not sure if it is just luck of the draw, but every out of towner that calls me about a "good deal" on a home they found in Vegas usually is talking about a home in a much higher crime data area.

Relevant story in the RJ this morning...

Homicides on decline in Clark County - News - ReviewJournal.com

Basically observes that homicides have fallen by 50% over the last two years.

So much for bad times driving up crime...at least with respect to murder.

I am only talking about the red box "unsafe zone" on the map above. Im sure "savvy" buyers won't mind finding a deal inside a half million to 2 million dollar neighborhood. Neighborhoods that are withing the red box.

If they went by the map alone, they could be missing out.
