Thank you for all of your suggestions. Will be contacting/going to Sears; Lowes; and have called Diamond Water - right now i am so depressed about having left Miami that it is hard to make any decisions. Mostly want to sell the house and drive back to Miami.

Thank you again.

Check out this thread. You will find a lot of good and relevant information there and another link to another excellent thread is there.

I know you had some issues about Water-Tec, but after reading these threads, you might want to reconsider that firm. When I chose them after doing a lot of research, I thought they offered a good value. About a year later, I remain happy with that choice.

Just curious . . what other aspects of Las Vegas have you found disappointing, as compared to Miami?

I wonder the same thing. My guess is they either have family in Miami or, they miss the Ocean?

Either way sorry to hear you are not happy here

Will check out Water Tec - did not have any issues with them except they just wanted me to buy it over the phone they were the most reasonable - Coco - did you buy your system over the phone w/o talking to a rep?

Miami - miss the weather, the humidity and the clean water. Actually the only place I like here is Whole Foods as it seems like I am back in Coral Gables. Go there almost everyday and always feel a little better. The people in the stores here are very nice - dry cleaner, UPS store, Petco, etc. We will probably put the house on the market in the Spring as we do not want to make the drive back this time of year. Would love to give it a chance here - my longtime partner Kevin actually likes it here - loves the mountains and he lived in Miami all of his life.

Also - if you know of a good vet for big dogs - the vets I visited have these tiny rooms, etc. please let me know. Thank you.

1. It sounds like you would like an activated carbon filter to remove chlorine compounds. Something like this would be fine: CARBON FILTERS

2. Get a water softener such as one of these: DuraLine™ Series Metered On-Demand Water Softeners

3. Get an under-the-sink RO system such as this Residential and Commercial Rever or http://www.costco.com/Premier-Revers....10040488.html. Sometimes Costco has a Watts Premier RO system on the shelves so check there first.

Miami - miss the weather, the humidity...

Well, you are screwed then. Been to Miami and could not stand the humidity.

I am with those that say go to Sears. We have used them for both RO and softener installations on 3 homes.

I like Ann Rd. Animal Hospital. All of the vets I've encountered there are very caring. The exam rooms are about the size of a human exam room, maybe a little smaller, but I've seen a bull mastiff there that didn't seem to have a problem.

Sorry you are homesick.
