Relocating to Summerlin area (215 & Sahara) in 2 mos. I travel a lot to Chicago and will be dropped off/picked up from the airport by girlfriend. I have heard you should not let the taxis take thru the tunnel. Does this apply to passenger vehicles? Why does it take longer? What would be the best way for someone to take me to the airport? I would think it would take longer hitting all the lights down Flamingo or Trop. I usually fly out around 8:00am/11:30am and arrive back around 9:30pm/10:30pm.

The issue with taxis and the tunnel pertains to tourists going to Strip hotels. The fare is significantly higher than taking surface streets such as Paradise. There's no issue for people being picked up/dropped off in private cars

Coming from Summerlin you'll definitely want to take 215 directly to LAS.

15 to trop. Trop to paradise. It is faster by 10 minutes. I drive it 5 days a week

Did you see that he is starting from the area of Sahara & 215? I seriously doubt that it would be better for him to take surface streets or backtrack to the Summerlin Parkway down to I-15 in lieu of just taking 215 around the bend.

From Town Center and Sahara to McCarran

Via 215 18 miles 23 minutes
Via Summerlin Pkwy 25.9 miles 32 minutes
Via Sahara 14.6 miles 31 minutes.

Google maps is the source

Exactly right. Having lived very near there, the beltway is MUCH quicker to the airport from the 215/Sahara area.

I'd take 215 to Sahara. Pretty uncomplicated and that helps when you're picking up a friend or boyfriend from the airport and you probably have some catching up to do. Besides, it's a much prettier route, especially once you turn the corner. Leave the fastest route for when you're in a hurry and not distracted.
