After 4 years away, I am so happy that we are moving back to Las Vegas! I lived there for 10 years and for the most part it was great! My experiences were very different than some that I read about on here. I have no horror stories to report.

I moved there in 1999 from New York. Within 3 weeks I was working as a cocktail server in a major strip casino. I soon realized I was making double what I made in NY in a law office.

I have no crazy stories about working in a casino or the people. I know every place is different, but where I worked it was mainly normal family people.

Over time I bought myself a house and sports car and made lots of good friends. Just about every friend I made is still in Vegas at the same job. I was never into drugs or drinking and stayed away from those types of people.

I always lived in the Green Valley or Silverado Ranch area and always felt completely safe.

I met a great guy and got married. A few years later he lost he job and had an offer out of state and took it. I wanted to see what it was like living in different parts of the country. In the past 4 years his job has moved us to 3 states. I miss so much about living in Vegas. I am sooo ready to go back to what I consider my second home. We have lots of friends there so my husband was able to get a job with a few phone calls. I know things have changed a bit in 4 years but we are hoping that the next 10 years will be as good as the first were.

Welcome back! I am a new transplant....here since December and I absolutely love it here! I haven't met anyone, so no friends yet. But I make friends easily and know it's just a matter of time and place.

I'm moving back to Vegas, too! Lived there from 1994-2010 and moved to Richmond VA. What a snooze of a town RVA AND expensive. We moved to be closer to family (who are still a 5 hr car drive vs. 5 hr plane ride so we still dont see often). The schools are better in VA but considering the paycuts and increase in taxes/ living expenses we could have put our son in a private school. We use to live in Henderson and hope to settle in that area again. I miss the synergy of Las Vegas! Shopping/ restaurants/ entertainment/ the dry heat/ everything. I was fortunate to land a job so I hope it's a smooth transition. My only concerns are the housing market- every house we see has a contingent offer. Any one have any input on housing?

If you search for homes on redfin.com, you can eliminate the homes that are "contingent" or "pending" in the dropdown menu.
