Why is it that when someone criticizes Las Vegas, they are pounced on if not outright mauled in these forums?

Las Vegas isn't kind to everyone. It can be hard on a lot of people and I think they should be able to share their experiences without the snippy retorts.

Just some food for thought...

Thanks for saying that. People who behave that way are just one more thing to add to list of things that the OP asked for.

Ok, well I don't know how much you go to the other state forums here, but they all get their share of bashing. I understand that people who come here do not always search their questions, so you must realize that the regulars see these same comments over and over. These regulars LIVE in this city. They may not love it, they may, but it gets to a point where you realize after seeing post after post of a person "so excited to move here and start my new life and adventure and where is it safe, what are the good schools..." then some months later to see the same person completely bashing the city, that the city is not the problem at all, the person is.

The problem is that a lot of people dream to live in Las Vegas. For various reasons. When the excitement of living in Las Vegas moves to just living, people blame the city. Not a lot of people want to live in Hoboken. So, this forum just gets a lot more bashing than other city forums where people are not dying to move to. It gets annoying.

Let's face it, the person who answered "almost everything" was asking for it. I certainly felt it coming. The logical answer, from anyone, would be, "so move". My thought is that if you don't have anything productive to contribute because you hate a place, don't comment. If you do, expect to be bashed. I rarely comment in the Detroit/Michigan forum because I usually don't have anything productive to say, but quite a bit of experience there.

Sorry - but you really don't have much of a point.

I would certainly be interested in a calm and rational discussion of the shortcomings of Las Vegas...of which there are several.

But no I give no serious credence to the "I want my mommy" posters.

I am sorry it did not work out for them...but I suspect it has much more to do with who they are than where they are.

YMMV
