The impact of the thin oily sheen is much exaggerated.

There seems to be a real problem with many drivers ability to drive

Is it a chemical change in some people brains? People lose all ability to drive with any common sense when it rains. So many cars off the roads and tow trucks on the roads today.

It makes driving in what otherwise be a nice slow rainy Saturday, a dangerous endeavor.

Driving in the rain isn't something people in the SW are accustomed to. They either don't compensate or over compensate. Most newer vehicles with all weather tires and traction control do perfectly fine at legal speeds.

It gets a little tricker with dry weather performance tires such as what is on my car. 285/315 20s are pretty sketchy in standing water above 115.

Anything with rear wheel drive and a HEMI is pretty fun to drive after it has rained in Vegas.

Why do people from Las Vegas think its cold when its 55 degrees outside? Why do people from Dallas cancel school when there is one inch of snow on the ground? etc...

I think it is stranger that people in New England can't drive in rain or snow.. and all it DOES here is rain or snow..

Think rain is bad? Wait until it snows again. Next time it happens, I'm calling in sick and staying at home. I would rather snort asbestos than drive in Las Vegas with snow on the roads. Every idiot in town is skidding down the streets with a video camera in one hand and their cell-phone in the other.

Isn't that like a half decade event?

Rain does happen. In the so far not very much time I've spent in Vegas, I've been rained on a few times.

Well here in SoCaL they think it is still perfectly acceptable to drive 90 or more when it is raining.... Just like people in Colorado think it is ok to drive at speed with a four wheel drive on ICE cause they can go anywhere with four wheel drive....
