Well I'm bringing my job with me from RI and setting up a home office.. I'm going to have some extra time in the morning and may actually subscribe to a paper or 2.. actually, it looks like just 1 and and I'll get the other for free with it! And yes, I'm a fan of the free "rags" for the goings on around town here, so I'll be sure to pick some up there.

I heard a comedian on a late night show say if you had a newspaper on your porch you may as well hang up a sign that says, "An old person lives here."

I don't subscribe to the paper right now, haven't in years, but sometimes it's nice to play it old school.

There's something comforting and nostalgic about sitting outside with a cup of coffee and an actual newspaper. For me, anyway. Your mileage may vary.

For Ryan- in addition to The Weekly, you might enjoy Seven which is another local entertainment rag.

Just as useful as the LV papers most of the time

I check the news thru Yahoo so I pretty much can access both papers, the rest of news media around town and elsewhere but I tend to browse Las Vegas Sun more often. I won't say which paper leans to the left or right, you will figure it out. They all have their biases.

You mentioned earlier that the LV Sun is essentially a vanity newspaper for a millionaire. While that is largely true, I have encountered Brian Greenspun on a number of occasions and have observed him in a spirited political debate with someone he knew.

He is passionate about his beliefs, but also knows how to debate in a respectful, intelligent, manner.

The Review Journal is indeed one of the most conservative newspapers in the country. I have face-palmed many times when reading the comments below the stories and encountering a post that refers to the RJ as a "liberal rag".
I agree that Greenspun believes he is "fighting the good fight" and all. But the Sun only has one good story per day. The rest is fluff, and an opportunity for Mr. Greenspun to use his podium as publisher. It is essentially a counter-point publication to the RJ, which I find to be a mean-spirited broadsheet that buys paper by the ton, ink by the barrel, and axes (to grind) and bullwhips (to beat dead horses) by the ton as well.

That's what I'm thinking. Now that I won't have to get up and drive to work, I will have an hour in the morning or so to read the paper and drink my coffee. I'll give the RJ/Sun a trial run...

Make sure you ask for the "new subscribers rate". You will pay about 100.00 a year for the paper that way. And welcome to Las Vegas, Denise

Be aware that the RJ has different publications.

I ordered the RJ once. I was in Frys and they had a 6 month special i couldnt pass up. Turns out, their Sunday paper delivered to the house did not contain the TV Weekly guide. Well, I do the tv guide online anyway, but sometimes I like to see in advance whats on.
It was an additional charge for that, however at all the casinos, it comes included.
