Default Going to be in Vegas next week, apt hunting, some advice please..

Hello Folks.

My girlfriend an I are in a suburb of Buffalo, NY.

Next week she is testing for a Civilian job with the LVPD.

We will be in the Las Vegas area for about a week.

If she ends up getting offered a job, we would move there, and move into a short term apartment (6 month contract at most). Then we would buy a condo.

What I'm looking for is a safe area, non ghetto.

We are looking for a 1 or 2BR unit for about 800 per month.

Can someone recommend areas to look at?

We are looking at several places in Henderson..

Thanks,
Justin

rent a car and drive the area in both daytime and nighttime. that will give you a good idea of what the traffic is like.

Henderson sounds like a nice fit for you.

Hi Justin,

If you are in Henderson, Nevada, come to Green Valley. Pretty quiet and clean area. It's not too far of a drive and since your girlfriend might be working for the lvpd, you might want to look into the preferred employment program, this helps with security deposits and other related topics when moving into an apartment in getting a break. I know a place that offers a 6 month lease, starting cost is around 840 per month for a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom with special move-in but you are looking around the 800 range per month. Prices in here have risen in the last few years on apartments. I think the cost I mentioned isn't too shabby for Green Valley area. It takes me about 15 - 20 minutes to commute to Las Vegas downtown and that also depends on the traffic. If you want the name of the apartment for reference to check out, please send me a pm. Hope this helps you and good luck with the move and her future job.

Luann

Avoid areas that have one apartment complex after another.
This is because all the bad characters from each complex find each other and can cause trouble.

A nice location is in the southwest part of the valley (west of the strip/I-15 and south of Spring Mnt Road).
Look at W. Tropicana from Decatur Ave to Rainbow Blvd
Also at W. Flamingo from Jones to the I-215 Beltway.
In these areas you have some nice apartments and the location is close to the strip and other things.
