Hi Everyone! I have a few questions about Vegas in general pertaining to both housing and work as I am looking to possibly relocate.

I am looking for a local's advice in regards to your local job market. I read in prior threads that the city is best suited to people in the medical field or had some type of degree behind them. Is that necessarily 100% the case? I've worked in mortgage in plenty of different positions for the past 10-11 years with some excursions into different areas. I am definitely experienced. Am I barking up wrong tree in looking at LV? I am not afraid of temping (if you can recommend one, that would great too) either. I have seen a few things on different job boards but I haven't seen anything that has jumped out at me yet.

Second would be housing. Which areas would be on the more inexpensive end of the spectrum? Again, by reading prior threads, Henderson would be ideal for me. However I think that would be too far out of reach financially. I'm not afraid of living in seedier areas. I used to live right next to San Bernardino in the Inland Valley of CA. And I didn't drive. I guess I'm just gangsta like that

Basically I'm just looking at a chance to start over someone else. I'm tired of most of my friends. It's super expensive here and I will ALWAYS be priced out of even the cheapest of rentals.

It's either here or with my brother in Texas. I really don't want to go to Texas.

Well if you are "gangsta like that", then you won't have a problem any where out here.

Hi I live in Paradise but I am retired but as far as moving here get a good real estate agent. The market is tight but houses are available and so are condos and townhouses. The next thing to do is a internet search of jobs available in your field. All of the major banks are out here so look at that for starters. Please don't buy into if you do not live in Henderson that the rest of LV is seedy. Their are many areas in LV that are great and much closer to the strip and airport. Las Vegas is designed different than most cities and their are many planned communities to live or rent in. You will find in LV they use zip codes to pinpoint areas if someone on this board says a zip code is a seedy area please keep in mind the zip code covers a vast area for example mine is 89121 but it covers lots of area. When you get ready to move you should come out for a look and see. You can get great room rates at a local Stations casino and rent a car and you ill see what I mean. I did this in my house search and I lived on the East coast. Keep us posted on here how the progress is going. Hopefully others will chip in with more advise.

Where did you get the pic of my neighbors? HA!

I am willing to go wherever I have to in the beginning just to get out there. Like I said before, I am totally priced out of the rental market in CA, even in the Inland Empire where the majority of my family are from. Right now I'm renting a room with a friend in an LA suburb that is about 7 minutes from work. That being said, I'm not too concerned with housing.

I am more concerned with the employment outlook out there. Anyone care to chime in?
