Weird that none of these jobs are casino or hospitality related. Maybe I will find an article of the most common jobs in the valley.

Looking to land one of the best jobs in Las Vegas this year? You’d be wise to polish up your skills in medicine or computer science, according to the latest Jobs Rated report from CareerCast.com. Software Engineer, Physical Therapist, Dental Hygienist and Registered Nurse all rank among the eight best jobs in Las Vegas for 2012.
A lot of these growing jobs have a lot to do with changing of downtown and the opening of the new VA hospital up north.

This mirrors a national trend, but thanks to efforts by Zappos and the Vegas Tech Fund to transform Las Vegas into a “vibrant, connected tech community” through the Downtown Project, local demand for Software Engineers is projected to grow by nearly 5% a year through 2018, according to the Nevada Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation.

This may not be appropos, but at the Employment Security Division (ESD) of DETR (Dept of Emplymnt, Trng, & Rehab.) we always had pages and pages of medical type job listings. The jobs were hard to fill, but I also suspected the medical establishments were just creating lists. I think CCSD does that too.

I appreciate the work the Research & Analysis boys and girls do in Carson City, and really wished I had worked for them; but they deal mostly in numbers and are usually the first to acknowledge they could be wrong. However, I think they were usually more right than wrong whenever I talked to them. At least they were one of the more interesting groups.

I'd agree with that list... it's what I saw being offered up as I looked for work.

Wow, me and my wifes job are both listed. We have different occupations to boot.

Not so sure about RN though, they all seem pretty miserable to me.

All this list means is that our salaries will go down in a few years when there are too many new grads :P
