Really, no. They own a house and a couple of cars, free and clear, they don't appear to be starving. They seem to have a lot of things under control that many others, who live a lot bigger, don't.

Just imagine if they were living like this while the husband was still active duty.

I bet they have an EBT card. Medicaid. Maybe parents help out buying kids clothes.

My question...cant they both get jobs? He gets grant money for school, but he can also get a job. Probably working a SC pension...wants to be "unemployable". And state he needs her as a full time caretaker...

And as long as the kids are always fed before the end of the month or CPS will be knocking.

This is true. My grandparents died and had over a million dollars saved. They were very frugal. They worked, retired, went on ONE vacation besides some camping when they were younger. They tore napkins in half, took half an aspirin, never bought anything new and took back gifts that were given to them. Is that really living? They died and the money went to their selfish, greedy kids. Why shouldn't they have enjoyed it while living? They earned it.

Exactly.. I see most of the posts on any house, real estate, or money thread is about what you can do to put as much away as possible.. for what? Money has no value until it is spent.

They used roughly $60,000 to pay off the bills which made them debt free.. Heck the money he earned overseas in the Military probably paid for most of everything..

And if he is going to school full time IN the Military he can not get another job..THAT is his job......And if that's the case they have free medical and other benefits since he is still military....

BUT if he is no longer in the Military and they live on that..It is NOT the same as soemone who has a house/apt payment or car payment or other bills... NOT the same at all....
