i've lived in the NW for almost 20 years now and I and my wife would like to either retire to or at least winter somewhere with a warmer sunnier climate. I've been to Vegas and looked at the climate data including temps, wind speed, sunshine hours, rain, etc. In your opinion, how would you rate the LV climate on a 1-10 scale? Also, if you've lived elsewhere, how do you compare the LV to that location?

Thanks for all responses.

I am perplexed on how you could afford to live in France, but could never afford to live in San Diego which has a lower cost of living by far compared to France. I am by no means trying to start trouble, but I honestly cannot figure that one out at all?

Lived in UK for a bazillion years. Loved it. Managebly cold winters and warm summers with long daylight. You could grow anything except tropical fruits and vegetables.
Id give Las Vegas a 6. Very nice winters when everyone else is knee deep in snow, but you still need a jacket. Hot summers, no more to say. Just remember that when everyone else is suffering in the winter and you feel smug, we are suffering in the summer. And growing fruits and vegetables requires a botanical degree and an increase in your water bill.

I would agree with those numbers. Dead on accurate.

Yes on the latter, you do have to water them, but fruits and vegetables do very nicely here if you follow gardening techniques suitable for the desert.

OP, as far as rating the weather. Today was just about a perfect ten. Ask me again in August, and when you've recovered from the onslaught of profanity that comes out of my mouth, you'll understand August in Vegas.
