Oh, there is definitely culture! It's just situated much differently than your traditional NY-LA-SF scene.

I actually enjoyed your Chinatown district very much!

I personally believe Las Vegas has more cultural amenities to offer than Phoenix, Albuquerque, El Paso and other medium-ish southwest US cities. You've got lots of great restaurants and shows! You've got Steve Wynn's art collection, Ethel M chocolates, farmers markets, a blossoming arts scene, some tech interest, lots of diversity, a gay district, a Hispanic area, two state universities (UNLV, Nev. State), lots of European and Asian transplants, the Springs Preserve, a number of local natural attractions such as Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Mt. Charleston, etc. You've got a very fascinating history.

The thing about Las Vegas that makes it feel like its lacking in culture is that you need a car! It's a lot like Los Angeles in that respect.

Sometimes the RJ's View pages have some interesting things to do listed. You can choose your area of town from this page.
