This is ambitious:
Tony Hsieh, Zappos CEO, is continuing his push to make downtown Vegas resemble an actual city.

He just secured the biggest order of Tesla electric vehicles ever -- 100 Model S Sedans.

The plan is to offer a monthly transportation fee (amount not yet announced) to downtown residents, which will grant you unlimited use of their network of transport options:
- A driver picks you up in a Model S
- An electric shuttle takes you to your next destination
- You pick up a low-range electric vehicle and drive it yourself
- You use a shared bicycle

What option you use depends on your location and destination, all determined by a smartphone app

Hsieh doesn't have enough money to build a city from scratch, but good on him for trying!

Tony Hsieh may not be the end all be all answer to the woohs of Downtown Las Vegas, but at least he's TRYING. Can't say the same for the the naysayers and detractors and downright pessimists that inhabit this board.

Good for you Mr. Hsieh. I applaud your efforts and the City of LV says "Thanks!"

I think it's good what Hsieh is doing, but worry he'll blow all his money and leave town broke. Why don't the rich hotel owners help out?

Ever since seeing the shared bicycles in Europe and Canada, I've thought they might be useful here. The union taxi drivers would probably run them down though.

I think they use those Tesla electric cars for Red Rock Canyon tours. It may not be Tesla but they take tourists out there in caravans of small electric cars that look a little bit like an ATV.

We should also have the hop on - hop off busses here too.

Are there any charging stations in the downtown area?

During the past holidays, while standing in line at the store, some random guy was ranting to me on the lack of charging stations for his Chevy Volt in that area. I guess the strip casinos have them but no properties downtown.

I guess the guy had a valid reason to complain.

I live off of Desert Inn and there is a company on DI next to the Albertson plaza I can not remember the name but they have a fleet of electric cars about 11 they use for their employees to make business appointments. It makes sense to use these for zipping around LV hopefully more companies do so. It makes sense also out here in the SW to do so because of the weather and hopefully Nevada becomes the solar leader of the world. It is great to see DT leading the charge more power to them (pun intended)

You've obviously never seen a Tesla electric car. The original roadster looks almost identical to a Lotus Elise, since that's what it's built on. The sedan looks like a Jaguar XF crossed with a Porsche Panamera.

They are nothing remotely like what is used on those tours:
