With the good came the bad at the Las Vegas Perspective event held Thursday morning to celebrate the 33rd annual publication of the community profile. Of note this year is that Clark County’s population grew 1.7 percent in 2012 to more than 2 million people living in the area, making it the seventh-fastest in the nation in terms of growth. The most newcomers — 31.9 percent — hail from California.
Interesting.

Very interesting.. that last statistic about FB gaming floors me! The brick and mortars don't seem to be doing so poorly, so that's good.. only $1B down over 2006? In the big scheme of things, not too shabby!

I know LV loves growth and thrives on it, but I think it needs to have a more sustainable outlook for growth into the future..

Agreed.. the education is pretty scary. And I was also amazed at how poor the residents are.. only 20% over $50K/year as a household. The city will always be a destination and money will always continue to come in, but the residents need to find a way to capture some of that revenue!

Actually you are mis-reading the paragraph. Average household income is around $50K. Higher than most places...like Phoenix and Dallas and much of the Midwest.

Thank the Culinary.

This is what I read:

"20.5 percent of Clark County households made between $50,000 and $74,999." Doesn't that mean that the remaining 79.5% are either below that or above that? I'm assuming the larger percentage would be below.

The median is around 50K. So 50% make more than that and 50% less.

So there is another 28% or so above 75K.

Also, there are a ton of people making over $50k that declare $20k if that...more so than I think any other city.
