Well, I got to see my first Friday downtown, and it was *lame* *lame* *lame*
a bunch of food dealers, all selling the same fried junk, a few artists selling stuff they printed on a color printer, some strange knives, and wall hangings, a few 'solar' displays a electric home brewed car
some loony on a ukelele playing for change.... and that's it...

Go down there on Second Friday, it will be much better. Just like the third, fourth and sometimes fifth Friday of the month. First Friday is always lame because if the people it attracts. Someone told me FF attracts the coolest people in the valley.(I can't post the sarcastic smiley from my phone)

My friend from San Diego says his favorite club down there charges double the price for entrance and drinks during FF. Now he only visits on regular Fridays.

Then I heard the mayor bill the event as a place for locals to showcase their art and talent. It's turning into a swap meet with panhandlers and Jack Sparrow impersonators.

I feel your pain man.

I think they lost control of it a bit... it used to be more art oriented when it had a former owner. I still think they can do better and make it more of a happening. I'm with Von, the other Fridays are nice as the arts district itself is cool.

check out the brasil fest if you are still in that area this weekend.

I havent been down there in quite a while but even when I went it wasn't cool - it was a bunch of underage people getting high and hanging out with a few food trucks sprinkled in.

I did see one cool artist and tried to buy some of his work but he was too stoned to figure out what to charge me so I walked away empty handed.
