It seemed like a nice neighborhood on the map, but there has been one or more cop cars here (by us, not actually at our house) nearly every night. Also, when we got our first batch of mail, there was a letter to resident from the local police with a packet of home safety tips that said it was sent because of recent vandalism or theft reported at our address. Yay? There's a neighborhood watch thing tomorrow night we might go to...
That area is pretty safe. You get burglaries as it is relatively high density and that happens. It was a little damaged by the bubble in that it developed more renters than it would have had otherwise. Nothing wrong with renters but they do create problems at a higher rate then homeowners. The cop cars will vanish and you won't see one for months unless they are checking on someone who lives nearby. Groups of teenagers often get such care.

After looking at apartments online, it helps to view the surrounding location in either Bing Maps (Bing Maps) or Google Maps (Google Maps).

For instance, in Google maps, search for the street address, then drag the little orange "man" icon from the left side of the map (above the slider) to the location ... this turns it into Street View. You can move up and down the street and around the area. This can give you some idea of what the area is like -- beyond the lovely professional apartment photographs.

If you can afford $1000 or there about you can do any of the Sun Cities. Both Summerlin and Anthem have very nice facilities and activities. The others are also pretty nice but on a smaller scale.

Thank You for the info...was hoping for about 800-900 month....Facilities are a big plus, love to swim but don't get much of that here in Iowa..Activities not that important being I will most likely be working. Will check out both communities maybe something will catch my eye...Thanks....Virg
