Just adding my recent experience. On my trip to Vegas last week, used the US Costco website to reserve and rent a car. While the site said USCostco members only here was no problem with our rental. through Budget. Turned out to be less than $15 per day with taxes for a VW GTI. Sweet ride at a great price and I recomend checking it out.

if you guys are looking for cheap car rentals in las vega while you are visiting, try carrentals.com. I've used it many times for budget/enterprise/avis and so forth. cheap rates but great service.

I had done my reservation for the last week in August and managed a total of $208 using Budget through carrrentals.com. I did an online query through Costco and it was $290. I always check every week though as rental costs go up and down and since you don't have to put a credit card deposit down through carrentals.com it is very easy to rebook and cancel and play the "rental car booking game"! :-)

The Costco thing worked perfectly well. Ended up with a VW GTI through Budget for $71 for five days. Budget also has aFast Track program that lets you go right to the car lot and avoid the lineup...

I agree it is best to try a number of options because different sites work better at different times.

We have used Costco several times and never had any problems. We are using Alamo as the rates have always been good and if you are a member of their insiders club you don't pay for an extra driver. We once booked with Thrifty and the car was 18/day but for my wife to drive was another 10/day!
