There are lots of events in mid-late winter that bring lots of people to Vegas (NYE, Valentine's day, March Madness, etc.). The real dead season is immediately before Christmas.
I don't know pricing on MB. MC I know is in their price range.

Naw, right before Christmas is Cowboy Christmas and NFR. Pretty busy.
I agree with the above poster in regards to the pool. Mandalay Bay. They also have concerts on their mock-beach which can be kind of a kick. I've seen Styx and a couple of other bands there.

I didn't say that the entire winter is slow. Traditionally, sans special events, the winter is slower comparatively speaking. Is there another season that is slower?

While job hunting in January I stayed in a timeshare at the end of the strip called Tahiti Village(?) Perfect amenities, next to car rental row, has free shuttle bus to popular locations and nightly activities (I think for kids too). Strips best secret in my opinion becuse you can fly in, catch the airport shuttle to car rental row and walk a long block to the Village. No need to really get a car. I think it functions like a hotel when not full. I think I paid $300 for 4 days but that was off season then.
