To the person who said this is a big deal, you are right.

I'm sure they will have some glitches and some players trying to circumvent the restrictions, but this should open things up (finally) in the US. I'm looking forward to this.

This Ultimate Poker new online poker site requires you to have a cell phone..with one of 3 carriers for now...I don't have a cell phone and this sounds ridiculous. In all the years I've played online poker I've never heard of such a dumb thing. OK, now I've vented...I feel better.

I agree binionrat, but they had to do something in order for the Poker Company to ensure people were in fact residing in Nevada. There are people that live close to the stateline that are having problems because the cell tower shows them in another State.

Again, it's not perfect and after continuing to read through the 2+2 poker forum, they are working on making it better. They expect a new software upgrade inside of three months.

The question that keeps going through my head is 'If this is backed by the Company that owns Stations Casino's why wouldn't they throw more money at it right now and get this perfected'? The National/International exposure that this has is overwelming!

The whole phone verification is a laughable idea, but guess it had to be used to either placate regulators or because Stations was in a hurry to go live. There are far superior location verification methods which are supposed to be incorporated into other software packages. Wouldn't surprise me if regulators wanted it at least for the trial period as sort of a secondary location check.

I had zero issues getting logged on and deposited... games are fairly juicy right now even though there is a limited player base. It's only going to get better.

the idea of cell phone verification is another layer of security... they SMS/text you a PIN for both identity and withdraw. they are using both IP and Triangulation to verify position.

sitting at 3/6 right now FTW!

Hopefully they get the mobile app done while the games are still good. It's been a while since I fired up the laptop.

Now that would be nice... but I remember a discussion at RR tables the day I went in to deposit and the word is there is no timeline for mobile application because they dont want players sitting live and playing online... don't ask me why.

If the feds want, the can still shut this down, especially if people are circumventing the geographic restrictions.
