Anyone of suggestions where to get a new laptop at the best price thought I would pick one up next month when we come down.

Bestbuy (summerlin) should have an open box of this since I returned it last week. Windows 8 is horrible. I ended up buying a macbook pro.

Fry's Electronics on South Las Vegas Blvd. would be the first place I looked.

That Asus Laptop is pretty good for the price. Why not just downgrade it to Windows 7? I agree that Windows 8 is terrible.

no need to downgrade. google classic shell for windows 8. Makes your 8 look like a 7 which is a total upgrade and the shell is freeeeee. rep me somebody.

^ agreed - using classic shell makes it into a Windows 7 machine with 5-10% increased performance and hundreds of bug fixes.

And that laptop was a great deal, although now expired. I got a convertible laptop with detachable screen for double that price, and it's only half as fast :\ (HP Envy X2) Upsides are a 12-hr battery, no fan/cooling needed, and the whole tablet feature. W8 Metro is actually a decent interface for when you are just relaxing and not working.

Default Asus

Had to ship my asus (which was fairly expensive
At the time) towards the end of that 1
Yr warranty.
They weren't that helpful - tried to tell
Me I was too late. Told them irrelevant
As I could use amer express extension.

They replaced the keyboard (necessary)
But did nothing w/monitor or hard rive. One
Of the latter two had a problem again. Called&
Told them they didn't fix problem 100%.
They said if it worked, they did. Over.

Maybe all companies are like this & if you
Get a lemon that's tuff.

From what I heard about windows 8
It would be good to change it to windows
7.
