My point was if he still wants to work then stay in PA on the force and increase his pension. Every year he stays the pension goes up ( mine would have increases 2500 every year I stayed ). The op gets his salary plus increase in his final numbers. To come out here and work for "peanuts " yes " peanuts " in the security field is crazy. If OP stays on force longer he will not to need too work in LV ( and can LOL at working security here ) . As far as boredom there are manny worthwhile organizations and causes to volunteer time with. In my situation I left a very high paying job and so did my wife, but it was the right move for us. The life expectancy for a retired police officer is much lower than the national norm, so that is one consideration among many. As a young retire inflation and death are the two certain enemies, so for nnow I am going to live my life and if I am alive 20 years from now I will thank God before I worry about money. OP stay in PA on the force if you cannot not make it out here on a 24 year pension, if you can come on out as the waters in retired life are nice and warm.
