I have been here for a week. Here are my observations.

1. VERY clean vs. other large cities.
2. Misconception, North Las Vegas is not ghetto. Nor is Harlem ghetto these days. I have lived and travel through Baltimore, NYC, Philly, Chicago and DC. Those cities have MAJOR problems.
3. The Midwest is hotter than this place on a 99 degree day. However, I will hide when it's 110!
4. There are beggars and hustlers in every city, sure
Vegas is worse, but what would you expect?
5. The public transportation is not bad, I just doesn't come very often.
6. People drive fast but it's no NYC, or DC.
7. People keep to themselves, but are nice when you reach out. You will not find small talk North of the Mason Dixon Line.
8. The mountains are stunning!
9. Idiots pray on idiots, watch your wallet and pay attention to your surrounds. X'ing fingers
10. The Catholic Churches are busy and diverse. Sin city has a soul!
11. No museums, no zoo's, little art.
12. Where are the Hipsters??
13. If NYC is the "concrete jungle"'than LV is the concrete desert.
14. Small town feel * 2
15. The pace is much slower than out East.

8.5/10
* I haven't seen Lake Mead or THC.

I think I will make this town my home!

11. No museums, no zoo's, little art. Bellagio gallery. The fine art store in the Fashion Show mall. Seriously go to the fashion show mall art store. It is amazing. We have a zoo as well, but I have heard from many sources that the place is heart-breaking.
12. Where are the Hipsters?? Elsewhere. And let's hope to God they don't find their way here. Seriously. Hipsters = bad. Geeks = good. We need to import as many geeks as we possibly can. MIT studying, D&D playing, stargazing, car-restoring, vinyl record album-collecting and ukelele-playing geeks. The more geeks the better.
13. If NYC is the "concrete jungle"'than LV is the concrete desert. No argument here. It's just a lot of concrete and asphalt. Everything is a uniform khaki color. The houses look like they were whacked with a clone stick.
14. Small town feel * 2 You're freaking kidding me. Small town? I'm from a small town. Four thousand people. There is no small town feel here. Even Boulder City (which is technically a small town) doesn't have the small town vibe that I love.
15. The pace is much slower than out East. I run around at work like my hair is on fire. Back home, I never traveled more than 35 miles an hour, ever. (Seriously, that was the speed limit. And the road to the nearest major city was 127.5 miles long. All 35 miles an hour. I am Capt. Slow. My preferred mode of transportation is sailboat. I like to go about seven knots. That's all the speed I need.)

8.5/10
* I haven't seen Lake Mead or THC. I've seen plenty of THC in Las Vegas. Well, I've smelled it at least.

I think I will make this town my home!

Check out the mob museum and the neon museum. Both actually very cool. I would consider the conservatories at the Bellagio and Wynn displays of art as well as the Bellagio fountains. All of the architecture at Ceasars, Bellagio, Venetian, etc are as impressive to me as the ones in Europe. It still takes human ingenuity and money to make fanstastical works of art. I think people will visit the ancient ruins of Las Vegas and marvel one day (if it would survive). Go to a whole foods or the down town arts district to find hipsters. They are here.

Museums here usually coexist with a casino lol. Out lying areas have ghost towns to visit which are the SW Museums. lol
Most information about LV is in books the old history and etc not much left from the past because here they tear down places and re build new not to many historical places left to preserve.
The mountains are closer than you think take a trip to MT Charleston for the close up with trees
The 110 temps are not 24/7 like the humidity is back in the mid west and east and it is for about 3 months then the weather goes back to great.
Winter here in LV is like the last 2 weeks of October back east and winter does not drag on and on like it did this year in the Mid West and East.
Overall for a city with 2 million people it is far and above many major cities and LV is always changing so you have things to look forward to doing that are new.
Enjoy your move and welcome I am sure you will enjoy the new environment.

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. It's the active ingredient in marijuana. Although if OP is talking about some other THC, I also have no idea what it might be. The History Channel? THC of Nevada, the Sierra Home Medical Products group?

Feels hotter. Vegas at 102 feels like an 85 degree midwestern day. a 99 degree day in Vegas can feel cold if you are in the water and the sun dips behind a cloud.

I also have to comment on the "no museums" thing. They do exist! Just visited the Mob Museum for the second time and Neon Museum for the first time.

Heck, just walking around inside Caesars and the Forum Shops is like visiting a museum!
