Has anyone else received a letter on a "City of Las Vegas" letterhead trying to sell you a Sewer Line Warranty? It sounds like a scam to me. Has anyone ever had a sewer line break?

My next door neighbors got one Buzz, I havent checked our mail yet. Sounds legit to me but at the same time you may be right.
Guess we'll wait and see who else chimes in about it.

They are doing those in Phoenix and the suburbs here as well, very likely legit. The gentleman at my city water/sewer department spent a ot of time discussing it with me.

Real =

Optional Sewer Line Insurance Available (Official City of Las Vegas Web Site)

$76 annually. Impossible to evaluate with the info given. I suspect unwarranted unless your house is pass 20 years old.

It is much more common to have a break in the water service between the meter and the house. I have seen a half dozen of those over the years. Not offered in this program though. I believe it is available.

Sewer line from the house to the main sewer line generally in the middle of the street. There is also something about an additional benefit and fee to cover street cutting.

I received it, too. Read it and figured it's something I don't need legit or not.

I am thinking about it - in California we had one break - thank God it was on the city's part. Interesting to hear what others have to say.

I had a break in my sewer line when I lived in Denver Co.about 10 years ago.It cost me over $6K to replace a 10 ft section of sewer line in the street. After that,I purchased the sewer line insurance on all my rental properties in Co.

LasVegasNevada.gov says:
"The city of Las Vegas receives a royalty from Service Line Warranties of America, and the program is being offered at no cost to the city "

They can't loose.
