We got some furniture off Craigslist. Also our washer/dryer and refrigerator. The new appliances they sell these days that they charge us so much is unreliable trash. So my point is buy used less expensive and then throw them away when they go bad.
Somebody mentioned Amazon on here for TVs and yes you can get an excellent deal free shipping and no sales tax in Nevada yet.

There is a pool guy on here that is very reliable and reasonable. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to mention him but his name is Steve and screen name AA702. He helped me a lot with no obligation even before we bought this house.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I looked at Colleen's website and I can't wait to check them out. Are all the locations as good as each other? I realize the selections will change, but in general is there a location that you'd recommend? Will they deliver?

Thanks for the suggestion about Costco for TV's. I forgot about them. And we do need to buy new furniture. Two summers ago we left our house in CT and went out to be near my DH's family near Palm Springs. As part of starting over we have been living in and managing a complex of townhouses. As a result of moving ourselves cross country and downsizing from 1800 s.f. to 950 s.f., we need to buy a lot of furniture to fill the new house.

Here's a silly question; how much does it matter if the kitchen appliances match? The existing range, dishwasher and built-in microwave are all Frigidaire/Electrolux. I was thinking of maybe Samsung or LG for the new fridge. From a distance I don't think anyone could tell, as they existing stuff is stainless steel and the new fridge will be too.

They deliver for $60. We went to the Henderson location and loved it. We ended up renting a truck from Home Depot across the street for $20 and bringing our table and chairs home ourselves, but for larger stuff, $60 isn't bad for delivery.

There are minor differences in stainless steel finish. Some are a grayer steel, some are a lighter, whiter or yellower finish. I have an LG french door refrigerator right next to a Kitchenaid double wall oven, and there is a very subtle difference. My wife can't see it. I can tell the difference if I look closely.

Go over the the Gardenweb appliance/kitchen forums and ask this question. Someone there can probably tell you all about the subtle differences in stainless steel finish from the different mfgrs.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Prices start higher at the Clearance center than in the store itself.... Everything ASIS. No delivery. We were looking at a sectional at the TownCenter location in their clearance center. Price was $940 with nothing missing and in decent shape. Same exact sectional arrived at the Clearance Center on Craig.. it was priced at $1600 and they were taking 20% off AND IT WAS MISSING THE CORNER.

I vote for Colleen's on Rainbow also.

The one at Rainbow and Cheyenne is quite a bit bigger than the one on Rainbow and Charleston, although I've bought something at both locations. And they're often willing to dicker on the price, so don't feel as if you have to automatically pay what's on the sticker.

Oh, good to know! I was showing my husband the website last night and he asked me if you could haggle with them, and I didn't know, of course, but said I thought we might be able to since it was second hand stuff. Good to know prices are negotiable, especially since we need so many things.

My sister purchased a $2,000 dollar Samsung fridge and I wished I was with her when she made the purchase. What a lousy fridge well at least that is how I feel about the fridge everytime I open the fridge double doors. It felt like it is going to fall apart. Anyway, I guess she's happy with it, she also own a matching Samsung stainless steel washer and dryer. Now that washer/dryer when it is on does not make a sound or very little noise at all, it's very quiet in the laundry closet.

For living room furniture we went to Lazy-Boy. Little more expensive but you sure can't beat their quality.
