Easy tiger. I bet thousands of people go to Fremont St. every week and never spend a dime. It's a free way to people watch and check out the overhead light show. I've met people who do this. I also know people who go to Silverton just to see the free mermaid show and check out the animals at Bass Pro Shops. It really shouldn't be surprising that these people consider a $3 tip to not be worth it when they can get validated for free. And no, they don't blow money on gambling/drinking. Not everybody is like you.

I always use GN Valet. Simple and straightforward. Particularly convenient if you need to go to the court house.

I can't see a tourists taking advantage if this but a local, yes. If a local resident has been occasionally checking out the free entertainment then they should have a routine down by now. If it is their first time, then that's what this thread is for.

But pinching 3 bucks? It's probably going to cost that in bus fare or gas money alone. But if you keep your eyes to the ground on FE you could get that back easily. There has hardly been a time while down there that I haven't found a couple of quarters from up to $10 on the ground.

Everyone is looking up at the canopy not thinking about what they dropped.

Just pull into the valet, give the valet your keys, and you're done. No need to check your watch because you can stay as long as you want.

And I especially don't understand people wanting to self park at Main st. Station since the valet is so much more convenient than the regular parking lot a block or so away.
Well a lot of people are saying there's no time limit, at least at some of the validation places as far as I understand. I hate watching the clock too.

Exactly. Personally, we grab a cab because we drink & gamble, but we have had friends along for their first time, and they are penny-pinching because they want to go to the big name shows and spend their money instead of gambling it away, like us.

Point is...be cheap if you want but if you're not going to tip don't use tipped services.

+1 Cyborg.. yes, there are free places to park. To me, it is worth the $3 for convenience. For others it isn't. And for those people there are free parking places. Great country, America!

Thank you!

I wish more cheap people would service themselves....(Whoa! That came out wrong, but I LIKE it so I'm leaving it!).
Rather than using a service and stiffing the person.

I've LITERALLY had chicks get in my cab to go across the street because their feet hurt. Halfway there they inform you they only have $5....GREAT it's gonna cost $6! I can't risk a $100 ticket booting them out on the street so I gotta eat the other dollar, get no tip and pay tax on the tip I didn't get! OR I could waste an hour waiting for police or TA to come arrest them for theft of services!
What I really want to tell them is they should have worn sensible shoes and not tried to stuff their hooves into shoes that were made for humans!

Okay...rough day....I'm totally cynical today!

I got stuck in City Center with a fare because they were filming a Jaguar commercial...so police blocked all traffic in and out until they were finished!

On the bright side I had a local girl longhaul the crap out of herself because she KNEW better how to go! Who am I to argue? Okay, I admit I actually tried to argue but she whipped out a whole batch of stupid! ....And in this case I was fine with it! She turned a $22 ride into a $31 ride!

I can't speak for everyone else but personally, I prefer to self park because I don't like handing over my keys and the car to a stranger. I have house and gate keys on the same key chain as the car's key fob and it's a hassle to separate them every time. And I have potentially paperwork and other information in the car that, after a quick little snoop around, would give any curious person my name and address. And you could clone the garage remote signal without too much trouble. So, this is why I prefer the self park and the little bit of extra walk (hey, exercise is good!).
