My daughter is slated to start her high school career at Southwest Career Technical Academy in the fall. We are zoned for Sierra Vista High School. She can choose either. Does anyone know anything about either school? We moved to Vegas in December, so I'm not well versed on what is good and what is not. I know the SWCTA is a magnet high school and she had to have the scores to get in. However, she's not really interested in any of the 11 programs they offer.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This was very helpful. It looks like her best shot is the magnet school. So luckily we accepted her slot. Thanks, again.

The magnets are the best. My youngest went to NW Tech and received a great education.

Yeah, I'm glad she has a seat. She really doesn't like any of the programs they offer, but when we first moved here, it was time to apply. This is where she got in. I'm not sure what to do because if she's not interested in any of the programs, it might be a waste of time, you know?

What programs are they offering? Do they have some sort of open house night where she can meet the teachers and review the programs before choosing?

At the time of application, she chose Fashion because of the 11, that one was a better choice. Here is the link for the school.

This is clearly a no-brainer! I have been trying to get my oldest daughter in a magnet school for the last 3yrs.
If you don't want your slot, we will gladly take it.

I don't mean to sound as if we are not happy she was selected, I'm just trying to figure out how to make the program she was selected for work. She most definitely will be sitting in her seat when school starts. I hope you are able to get in somewhere soon.
