Observation wheel in London has no problem and they get big gust of winds and their wheel has been there for years. I am sure the engineer plan done here in the same mold lets hope no short cuts have been taken erecting it or manufacturing it. Big cranes used during construction of big buildings which are up many stories have had a history of toppling over from the wind. Recall the crane which went over in NYC and caused some fatalities well I knew the OSHA accident inspector very well and it was proven the bolts holding the base plates which secured the crane were replaced with a cheap lesser grade kind of bolt which saved the company $9.00 a bolt then the NYC Inspector who was suppose to check this did not do his job so engineering is usually done very through but it takes only one cut corner for disaster. The wind is a amazing element of mother nature and not not too much is built or in the ground that it can not destroy.

That might haave been the one and only time I can recall a tornado warning in the valley. The timeline seems about right. I have seen some wicked dust devils, but I remember the event you are talking about, and I've seen nothng like it since.

I am not a huge fan of heights, but I might give the observation wheel a try when they get it up and running.

People are always asking me what that is, so I tell them...

It's the foundation mount for the Q32X inter-galactic space modulator.

I m terrified of heights, which is why I refuse to fly, but I might give this a try when I get back to LV. It looks very interesting.

Here's a pic, sorry its from my car, while I was driving, and using a laptop to chat with my broker on my apple stock, while I was eating a burger that I bought at three guys, and a piece of tomato got stuck, so i was coughing so the camera phone, which I was using illegally shook.

Anyone know what the over/under is on when this thing's going to get torn down? Once the newness wears off, I don't think it's going to last too long.

I disagree completely. I think it's going to be the number-one tourist attraction in Las Vegas. One year after opening, there will be lines out the door, and around the block. This will be bigger than the London Eye.

And I'm certainly willing to wager on that.

It depends on the finished product. Hopefully it stays true to its original design...

But if they run into budget issues and go the "City Center route", it won't last long at all.
