This isnt actually for me. I have been there and done that. However, my lifelong best friend proposed to his girlfriend on Sunday. They are looking to get married 4/4/14 in Vegas. They had talked about doing the Shark Tank wedding at Mandalay Bay for awhile. However, there parents have told them that they will not be chipping in on a destination wedding and will only pay for the reception here in KC.

I very much want them to have the wedding they want and not settle for something less over money. Maybe the Shark Tank wedding isnt feasible but I am going to try my damnedest to find them something they love and within their budget.

His fiance is kinda quirky and artsy and likes fun and unique things. My friend is a simple guy who likes to have fun and isnt into things being formal. However, getting married in a small chapel by Elvis doesnt fit either. It doesnt sound like there will be many guest; 20 would probably be a very high amount and it is looking like maybe a dozen or so outside of the happy couple is likely.

I am just getting started on researching this and just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on where to start. I did browse a few of the other wedding threads on here and have some links to view.

Are there cool wedding spots in Vegas that many people do not know about? A site or place that doesnt get attention? I dont think a chapel suites them so much. I think an outdoor wedding would work or like mentioned above, something like a Shark Tank. I dont know that a reception would be necessary either. That is something we could probably do on our own with such a small group.
Are there any tips to get discounts or getting things comped for the bride and groom? I am not so much worried about the expense of the guest but rather looking for ways to cut expenses for the bride and groom so they can do what they want. Are there casinos more open to cutting deals than others?

I forgot to ask the significance of that date to them but is there a better time that would be cheaper for them to get married? Would getting married on a weekday help?

Could you just do a wedding inside a casino without using them if you are staying there? Like if, we only had like 10 people plus the couple and did a quick, 10 to 12 minute service at like the Shark Tank at Mandalay Bay, could it be pulled off?

Any help would be appreciated. I really want to find a way for them to get the wedding they desire and not get stuck getting married in some church here in KC. That just doesnt fit them.

The Mirage has full wedding ceremonies (with music and seating) both at the pool and in front of the volcano-waterfall. Not too bad pricewise.

Also try the Artisan Hotel, not on the Strip but close. Good for a quirky and artsy type of person. Not like anything on the Strip. There's a small chapel in there and a restaurant for a wedding dinner if you want. Decent prices.

I would go to weddingwire.com and do a search for both wedding/reception sites and wedding officiants in Las Vegas. The wedding officiants may have their own favorite sites for weddings, and have an existing relationship with the site and be able to help with your planning, or put you in contact with people who can help you.

I came across the Artisan today and it is really fitting for them. I sent a request for info today. I am curious as to what the cost is.

Most beautiful place for it is Mt. Charleston Lodge. And in April there should still be some snow in the background. Mt. Charleston Lodge weddings

Artsy fartsy you say? If you don't mind a relatively short drive (3½ hrs) then Zion National Park in southern Utah. https://www.google.com/search?q=wedd...w=1504&bih=833

I have no idea of cost but Lake Las Vegas is nice.

When we were visiting Valley of Fire, we saw a bride, groom, minister?, photographer, and limo driver standing on the beautiful red rocks. Valley of Fire is about one hour from Las Vegas. Even closer, Red Rock Canyon has some red rocks, and it is about 30 min. from the strip. Zion is incredible! I think it is around 2 1/2 hours from Las Vegas. In terms of beauty, I would rate Zion first, Valley of Fire second, and Red Rock Canyon third.

On April 4, a gigantic field of wildflowers with mountains in the background would make great pitchurs. Death Valley in spring is incredible with wild flowers going on for miles. Then reception at Furnace Creek Ranch.
