You may be correct. I respect your opinions, but not every cocktail server, bottle girl, or valet has some sort of definite in...well, bottle girl maybe...

I think it cuts all ways...somepeople live next door to the hirring mgr, some girls kiss the hirring manager, some are related to the hirring mgr, and others just apply and get the job...

I currently hold down 2 jobs. My main job is at The Wynn, my second job is at a major nightclub. I got both jobs without knowing a soul at either property. I just applied online was called in to interview. I was hired on the spot at both places. I work in the beverage department at the Wynn and will be taking a promotion in January if I stay, which I might not. I was just offered a job at a new venue opening at the Linq, a very very good job in beverage.

At the Wynn they hold a Food & Beverage job fair every other Wednesday. They are constantly bringing people in off the street. You don't need any experience to be a busser at say the cafe or buffet, just some good work ethic and interview skills. It would also help if you joined the union and took a 1 or 2 week busser class which equals to 6 months to 1 year of experience. Once you get in any union property in food or beverage take any food and beverage course you want FOR FREE! Those course are all equal to certain amounts of experience and make you automatically eligible for that position. I didn't take that class. I just slowly moved up and gained experienced. I also made sure my politics are good at both my jobs. YouL have to work hard and make the managers look good and they will take care of you for the most part.

Once you have a place like The Wynn on your resume you will get call backs for I would say 25%-30% of the applications you put in for interviews.

I know I have great interview skills and I know there was some luck involved but again you don't need to be juiced in. You can come be a bar porter or busser. if you have serving experience apply for server and food runner and busser. Tell them you served and you want server but say you would take runner or even busser if you have to. Go to job fairs. Apply everywhere. Caesars is hiring everything city wide right now. I just walked into a job fair the other day and walked out with one of the best jobs you can get on the strip. I was stunned they offered me the job on the spot but it shows it is possible.
You have no clue what u are talking about.
The only reason you got those jobs is because of your AGE. Get it now??????
That is a new trend in this town for Casino jobs, especially at Casino Beverage or Night Clubs.
The entire Beverage Department at Wynn are bunch of Kids. This is especially true for Pool Beverage there.

So again, the main reason you got a job is because of your age.....20is.
Same works for those cocktail servers. Most of the girls never had any experience and are hired in their early 20is with a title Cocktail Server/Model.
Why Model is for you to figure it out.

i agree. Its crazy. I live in the Odgen and they opened up a Nacho Daddy across the street. My friend who lives in my building is a 42 year old woman and they told her they were only hiring "models." A model to serve burritos. Are you kidding me?

That's absurd.

That should be illegal.

A real model works for Ford and is not making tostadas...

I'm going to assume you do not work at The Wynn because YOU sir have no clue what you are talking about. All my friends in the beverage department who are Bartenders are in their 30's. Most full-time bartenders are late 30's or older. It is very rare to see a bartender in their 20's, matter fact extremely rare. Easily 90% of the bartenders they hired this past year are in their 30's and 40's.

The cocktail servers, the full-time girls at least, are ALL 30 and over. Every last one of them. They were not juiced in. They got in day 1 and slowly moved up. Same goes for the Bartenders. The only beverage staff that are mostly in their 20's are apprentice bartenders, bar porters, and extra board cocktail servers. Granted you do have to be in decent shape to be a cocktail server. Definitely don't need to be a super model.

To even get a job you have to pass a pour test. They are not going to hire some young person that has no clue what they are doing.

Even at the club I work at the bartenders mostly male staff, are in their 30's and 40's. I love how you tell me I have no idea what I'm talking about and you don't even work there. The fact you said "a bunch of kids" shows you have ZERO clue what your talking about. So please come on down to the Wynn and meet the bar staff and ask their age. I promise you won't see "a bunch of kids" making your drinks.
