Yea, I know there is a plethora of things to do in Vegas but I'm a musician and I'd kinda like to know something about the local rock band scene. Where are some good places to check out local bands? We're visiting the week of Halloween.

Thanks

I forget where exactly they are right now but check out Yellow Brick Road. They play all over town!

Vamp'd is pretty much the go-to bar for rock musicians. Tonight I'll be there to see Vinyl Tattoo (Oz Fox from Stryper, Frank Dimino from Angel, JP Michaels from Rubicon and Kaos, and normally Scot Coogan, but he's tied up with Blue Man Group tonight). The local rock bands are normally openers for national acts there. Check out Outta the Black, Smashing Alice, and Dirty Pair A Dice and see where they are playing that week. Count's 77 is the house band, and they normally play once a week there. Good blue rock would be the Stoney Curtis Band. Stoney plays all over the valley.

Other venues around town that cater to the rock scene would be Vinyl at the Hard Rock, Club Madrid at Sunset Station, Las Vegas Country Saloon and Las Vegas Country Club on Fremont. There's a pretty good room at Tuscany and further south at Club Fortune as well.

Vinnie Paul from Pantera spends a lot of time at Boulder Station, so if there is a band in town playing the Railhead there, you'll probably see him.

Lastly, you have Tommy Rockers, which has a few locations, and will have some local rockers on the weekends.

Hope this helps!

For some of the locations check out Las Vegas Shows on the Las Vegas Online Entertainment Guide - All the Las Vegas Shows, and also pick up a copy of Las Vegas Weekly. Some bands of note, Yellow Brick Road, Sante Fe and the Fat City Horns, check out some of the Bands at Harrah's Carnaval Court (outside free Venue). Also Raiding the Rock Vault at the Hilton is a great show with many known National musicians. Also check out www.pollstar.com. The Green Valley Ranch has bands on the weekends as well as the M Resort. Bally's has a great lounge although they are not necessarily Rock.

Does GVR still do bands on the weekends since they turned their venue into a Bingo hall?

Also, check out the Lounge at the Palms.. just bear in mind that if you plan on drinking, the Strip places charge quite a bit more for drinks than off-strip places. You can get a great micro-brew or IPA at Aces & Ales, for instance, while watching a band, for $4. Coors Light will run you $7 at the Lounge in the Palms.
