You should search through some of the old threads. This is one of the commonly discussed topics. Also look for things like 'What I wish I had known before moving to LV," 'Worst mistake to make in LV,' etc.

I don't regret moving here one bit. I like the experiences of living in different states. I don't know whether i'm done doing that yet or not, and so far, so good. Las Vegas has alot to offer the right people.

I was born and raised here and this town is not for everyone. I don't gamble and that is probably why I still am here. This is not a town for addicts of any kind basically because it is EASY to find your fix no matter what it may be. A lot of idiots move here everyday pissing and moaning about the Casino's and the effect on their children. Duh... this is Las Vegas, what did you think you were going to find? Go back to po dunk USA and leave us alone, we don't want you here either. I don't really understand why people with kids move here, it is a real challenge to raise kids in this town. I had basically tried every kind of illegal substance there is by the time I was 18. Parents in this town are to busy getting plastic boobs and lips and acting like college kids instead of parents. Most parents think that if they shell out huge chunks of money and put their kids in private schools then they have done a good job raising their kids. More money just means more drugs, alchohol etc. This town is for adults and kids should not be raised here.

I think its more than that. But more and more are moving from SoCal alone. They estimate the population to be 3 Million in 2014. I run into people everyday that ask me for directions and say "yeah, I just moved here can you help?"

I have asked this before but nobody can answer it. If so many people are leaving here why is Las Vegas still growing in leaps and bounds as it has for the past 100 years. If you look at the stats, Las Vegas just about doubled every ten years since 1905. When I came here in 1964 we had 180,000. Now we have 1.8 million. That's ten X in 40 years. In 1987 we had about 400,000. Now 1.8 million. So somebody tell me...who are these people that are always leaving?

Do I have regrets...yes. I regret that I didn't run for governor and put troops on the border, especially the California border. Or at least I should have closed and locked the door behind me when I arrived.

I was transferred from here to three different cities over the years and regretted having to go, even if temporarily. I never regretted coming home though.

But in the interest of full disclosure, until about two years ago I was homesick, as most of us hillbillies usually are, for West Virginia. But whenever I went back for a visit I couldn't wait to get back to Las Vegas. Even being homesick I always knew Las Vegas had spoiled me too much to live anywhere else.

I'm here from Alabama. Been here 3 months give or take and so far no regrets. Well, ok, the price of turkey is a little high here for the season, but other than that, nothing.

Sometimes I get homesick and for what is probably the strangest things...like the smell of real dirt when I'm gardening, not the kind you buy in a bag at Lowe's.

I was talking to someone from NJ a few days ago, she had just been home for a visit. She was homesick and thought she wanted to move back, until she went and realized how old everything is.

I'm going back for a visit in January, my first one since moving here a little over 3 years ago, so I'll see how feel then.
