Living in Las Vegas
.. Ok.. SO I just moved here from Florida. I lived there all of my life so this is a big change!
What is there to do out here besides the casinos..
I just dont get it..
I go to work.. get home around 4:30.. and its like my neighborhood is sleeping already... I just dont understand..
Not sure where the malls and stuff are yet but with the holidays that might not be such a good idea
So can anyone please shead some light and tell me what there is to do out here in fabulous las vegas..
There is no beach or docks or anything like that..
Let me know!!
Im ever so curious!

theres actually A LOT more to vegas than just casinos for instance, theres plenty of trails for hiking in red rock, you can off roading in some places of vegas not sure where but ill get back to you. its on an old thread. theres plenty of outlets out here. theres the premium outlets in charleston, and theres the las vegas outlets along las vegas blvd. those two outlets are huge and will keep you busy for awhile
and if i may ask, what neighborhood are you talking about ? what part of vegas are you in ? im sure others will ring in with PLENTY of other things to do. and youre right. no beaches !! haha thats one thing ill miss. oh yea you can also go to lake mead. theres plenty of things to do there too.
and.. welcome to vegas !

Pick up a Las Vegas life magazineor any of the others at local grocers and there are tons to do. I personally, mountain bike and go to Jean to ride my dirtbike (but it is getting dark about 4:30). I am a sociology major at UNLV and my senior capstone paper is on social interactions so I go to the casinos and take notes (people watching is a hobby). Also, there is way more to do in the casinos than gambling. Try a show or just look at the "mine is bigger than yours" war going on. It seems like I am out all the time but have yet to put a significant amount of money into any gambling (except sports, I do like the sports book, but I'm good at it). Just read some of the mags around and you are sure to find something to strike your fancy.

downtown = bars, some art galleries
plenty of restaurants
explore the desert or mts
springs preserve
wetlands park
museums (atomic energy one not listed, but kinda kool) Las Vegas Museums, Official Site
beaches at lake mead and on the colorado if you get off the beaten path
hoover dam
the time change kinda hurts you on outdoor stuff, but i guess that is what the weekends are for.

Ive lived here now 2 weeks and havent stepped foot in a casino. Most of my free time has been spent riding my sportbike with friends (Red Rock, Mt Charleston, Lake Mead parkway, over Hoover dam and into Arizona), boating on Lake Mead, going for walks, driving around and shopping. (Oh, I did go see a movie at Sunset Station which required I enter a casino if that counts).

So I have not lived in Las Vegas for many years but I do remember most places
Malls
Sunset Galleria - Is in Henderson on Sunset Road right next to Sunset Station Casino
Boulevard Mall is on Marylard Pkwy and DI Road
Meadows Mall is in the West side I think it near the US 95 and Decatur BLVD
I not what its called now but there is a outlet mall on Las Vegas BLVD and Warm Springs Road .
Casinos on the strips usually have a overpriced upscale mall example Forum shop at Caesar's Palace .
Also you don't have to gamble to go into the casinos
many of them have movie theaters and restaurants and on the strips there are many casinos the have amusment rides. My personal favourite is the stratosphere and new york new york roller coaster. I am not sure if it is still there but there is a indoor amusement park at the circus circus My suggestion just take a day off and room around the city u will find something you like

Try picking up one of the countless entertainment guides at a local grocery store. They will shed some light on the subject of what we do for fun. They are free too. There is plenty to do.

Google "Things to do around Las Vegas". You'll find tons of info.
Did I misunderstand? You came to the desert expecting beachs and docks? Well, the largest man made lke in the wester Hemosphere is Lake Mead and there are beaches and docks out there. White caps that'll flip your boat too on a windy day.

Forget FL...the Wild Wild West has plenty to do...and without the terrible humidity and traffic. Even if Vegas gets boring, Utah, Arizona, and California are easy drives!!! You'll love it!
