That's how you know someone has become a Local. I swear, no one can whine about their own city as much as people I know in Las Vegas.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Las Vegas friends. But, if I tell one of them I love Las Vegas, they just can't stop themselves from making negative comments about it. It really is odd to experience.

Just once I'd like to give the city a compliment and have a Local say, "Yes, it is a great city - glad you like it here. I hope you enjoy yourself and come back often."

That would be my answer! I've only been here 6 months, but love every single day!

Almost been here two years and I think it's the greatest place to live too! Won't see me moving or complaining.

Thanks, guys. I'm liking what I'm hearing.

Look, I get it. Las Vegas is a real city and, like any other place, has issues. Why the OP seems surprised Las Vegas gets cold is probably another matter (and another thread). Maybe too many move here who genuinely are surprised Las Vegas is not what they expected.

The lowest temperature recorded in Key West was 41F. Now THAT's where one might consider moving in the U.S. if they want to live where it does not freeze. Las Vegas does freeze. It is what it is.

Rained the entire month of August? I was there mid-month and the entire week was GREAT. Sunny and hot, no rain.

I just moved to Phoenix and we are about to get our "cold snap" (temps in the 50s with some dips below freezing at night). A friend said "geeze, did you break Arizona?" HAHA But I am told it will rebound quickily, and I imagine that 50s here in this sun aren't as bad as 50s where I am from in the winter.

Vegas can be COLD in the winter, sorry to say. I was there last December and needed my coat and gloves most of the time. It was too cold to really enjoy Fremont Street, we just wanted to stay inside the breezeways of casinos where they blast the heat.

I like it hot so long as it's not humid. I knew it'd be cold but this excessive rain is what I don't like. I can not stress how much I despise rain. Precipitation can **** right off.

If it was just cold I would not complain but cold and rain\snow? Arrrrgggghhhh.

Snow in the valley is by no means a myth...I distinctly recall both snow...and temperatures cold enough to rupture outside water lines...it's not Minnesota ...but the desert SW does experience extremes....just sayin !

I tend to strongly disagree...there are a few old timers that have called Southern Nevada home, decades...not months...or even a few short years. Most genuine "locals" have come to accept the weather patterns as a fact of life...what many of us complain about is not the weather...but the "evolution of change" per se. Some of us old timers are kinda stuck in a time warp...with that said..I guess we have earned the right to complain ....I'm not stating this to start a debate about the benefits of progress....uncontrolled growth...yea...we can go there ! .....being "local" is rather subjective....Vegas will always hold a special place for me...I can be quick to defend what it was...and just as quick to complain about what it has become...time has earned us "ol timers" that right...if you want to identify a real "local"...look for the guy walking away...shaking his head...when the debate begins...😜
