Trolls on this site?
I was just wondering if there is a way to track the IPs of some of the one time posters and trolls on this board?
I have seen other forum type software that will post your ISP but your IP will only be known to the Admins. Is this the case with this forum? I've seen a few posters that have not even come back after a lame post. Any input on this subject?

Yes! Everyone who gets on a computer has his/her uniqe IP (internet address). You can track a person's location by their IP. Your ISP dynamically gives this number to you when you surf the web. If you have a router, you can look at your properties and it will tell you your WAN IP. Your LAN IP is different and that pertains to your local (in your home) network.

or go to run, command prompt (cmd)
and type ipconfig/all
it tells you everything from IP address, dns servers, subnet mask etc.
really helpful if youre trying to setup a wireless connection or just trying to get the darn thing to work haha

Does it give you your actual WAN IP? I just go into my router and it gives me all that info.

But what about those of us that have dynamic IPs? I have software on my computer that changes my IP every ten seconds. I was a victim of Identity theft a few years ago and that is how they got into my computer. My IP is constantly changing and the only way to get my actual IP is to subpeana for it. It is funny actually, alot of sites will advertise based on your IP. For example, how many of you have seen the emails "testers needed in (insert your town here)?" I get those all of the time, and the say testers needed in Houston. The next one will say "testers needed in Cresent City," and the next one will say "testers needed in Omaha." All while I sit here in Henderson. Try to run my IP, I'll even walk you through how to do it, but you will not ever find out where I truly am without a court order. I am sure that alot of people use this software (my lawyer recomended it after my identity theft) and it would be impossible to ban an IP because of this.
