This article doesn't even TOUCH on some of the issues with driving in Las Vegas, but it's still pretty amusing, especially the part about checking the plates to predetermine driver behavior.

10 problems only Las Vegas drivers have | Las Vegas Review-Journal

I would add:

1. Be very careful in parking lots. People drive like they are on the Autobahn in parking lots.
2. Make sure you hesitate for a count of three if you are first in line when the light turns green, because somebody's running that red. (It's the safest bet on red in Vegas )
3.Drive like you are playing a video-game and everyone is trying to kill you.

Every time I'm in Vegas, I wonder what all the traffic hullabaloo is about. Coming from NYC, the driving seems very easy. The only thing I don't like is that I'm always in a generic rental (lately it's been POS Nissan Versas.) I have a GTI out here. I wish I had that out there.

Goes a little overboard on a few points but spot on about Strip tourists. I would add:
1. Count on a crash northbound 15 between Sahara and Charleston EVERY DAY!
2. Expect the Strip to go to one lane especially during big conventions like CES so they can tend to the plants in the middle islands
3. Watch out for people driving like bats out of h&ll in parking garages.
4. People riding donor cycles. While some use good judgment, too many are plain stupid and wind up dead.

I've lived here for 30+ years, part of it driving a city bus, a tour bus, and a cab.

Believe me, there are far worse places to drive! Try driving in Tijuana some time.

My biggest pet peeve is those that drive without headlights at night

London and San Francisco have been my biggest frustrations. In San Francisco you are lucky if you get reception to your Nav unit (because of the tall buildings) which makes it even more fun.

The problem with checking the plates to determine how they are going to drive is that the rental car places use cars that have plates from all over the U.S.

I avoid the 15 like the plague. There's just something about that road that seems more chaotic.
