I had some money on the counter and grabbed a small wad of cash, I was just going to give him a couple bucks and indeed he grabbed it out of my hands and took off like rocket. I feel lucky because the cash was loose out of my wallet. Had I had my wallet in my hands he would have taken all of that too. It happened in Green Valley. A relatively safe place. It was a lesson learned. Just goes to show how desperate people do desperate things.

i dunno that i would be so quick to throw out the desperate tag out there...some people just make a living being parasitic on people's generosity

Yeah we answer the door with a loaded dog in our hands. We also have panels that let us see who is there. But the dog is effective. Ain't very big but he starts out real unfriendly.
I wonder what happens here. We would be a sucker for such a thing. And we would virtually always open the door. That is how it is out this way.
and if he grabbed and ran...I don't know what happens. I would undoubtedly let the dog loose...and the dog loves to chase things. So perp. then dog then 250 chub with shillelagh. He would probably kick dog and get away.
In big trouble though if dog manages to trip him. Olecapt has big temper and Admiral is an absolute Tiger with animal involved.
No matter how it came out the video would easily get five stars on Youtube.

Trouble is that you would end up liable for chasin him down n batterin n bruising him.....train the dawgs to chase him BACK into the house where you can legally address his transgressions with the shillelagh......soundly about the head n shoulders.

I can see it now...
"comeon dog...drag him back this way"...all 22 lbs of fierce terrier trying to figure out what the hell I want...after all he nailed the target...now I want him to deliver it?
Nah I would probably have to use the shillelagh on the Admiral. She is pretty protective on the animals.

Well...
Yeah it doesn't shock me a lot but just a little bit.I find it funny because it's in Summerlin.I hate how people say "Summerlin is crime free, there's nothing to worry about here."Same thing with gated communities.People let there security down and then when something happens they don't know how to deal with it.Once again IT'S VEGAS!!!THERE"S CRIME ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Its not just Vegas though? I don't understand why people say this? Crime is in Summerlin and other upscale neighborhoods. But if you told me there was more overall crime in Summerlin vs. Lake Mead/D Street then I would think your BS'n.
You have crime in Los Angeles right? Maybe Compton-Watts has it worse than Beverly Hills right? But Beverly Hills is not Immune.
You have crime in ALL places! You can either be a victim or dodge the bullet. Its a dice roll most of the time-- your at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sorry...it was not in Summerlin. It was in the Henderson rival of Summerlin known as Green Valley. You are gonna have to repeat Vegas Geography 101 again.
It is the sort of thing that happens all the time in places like San Diego and Orange County and Summerlin and GV. Does not work in rougher neighborhoods...they won't open the door.

I don't open the door unless i know who's on the other side. After dark, if someone is going to come over, they call and let me know they are outside. Otherwise, i'm not opening it for anyone.
I had a near miss when living on the other side of town...a group of about 3-4 guys were banging on my door late one night..i ignored it, because i didn't know who they were. They wouldn't leave. I was checking out the peephole. So just when i had phone in hand and was ready to dial the police, they disappeared around the corner like they were heading down the stairs or the next apt.
They then started banging on the window of my office, which is next to the stairs. because the light was on, they thought i'd look out the window? Then they could barge in through the window? Who knows. They eventually left and never came back as far as i know. I think it was a random thing..looking for a victim. I refuse to be one.

frightening. good to hear nothing came of that, pink.
i stand by my big dogs comment...hell, even small dogs make enough racket that they provide some security.
but once the dogs start outweighing some people, you get that added bonus of your house really not being worth the trouble.
