This is where people think they will save money by moving from California to Nevada it's seems great until summer hits and the AC is running full time and they get that first bill.

Pretty sure my $150/mo electric bill for 4 months followed by $40/mo for the next 8 months doesn't approach the taxes and housing prices in California. Just a hunch.

In Texas my bills were $300 for 800 sq feet - so that is even more outrageous. Replacing the outdoor A/C unit slashed the bill, and I do balanced billing so as not to be hit with higher amounts for those months.

If the A/C doesn't work, remind your landlord of NRS 118A.290(1)(i), where it says lack of a/c is a habitability issue. This is the desert. It gets hot. We don't screw around when it comes to cooling down where you live.

Got an e-mail just a couple of hours ago letting me know that Solar City is (as of today) now doing business in Las Vegas / Henderson. Expect to see lots of green and yellow utility vans driving around. I immediately called and setup an appointment for an assessment of my Henderson home, which will happen tomorrow morning.

I have been a Solar City customer at my California home for 3 years now. Smartest thing I have ever done and I hope I am able to do business with them in Nevada as well.

It is nice getting electric bills of $.93 in August vs the August bill of $500-$600 I was getting before going solar.

Are you in HOA? Will they allow solar?

Default Solar City

Which plan did you select with Solar City in California? If it is one of the monthly payment plans, how much do you pay to Solar City, and what is the size of your system in kW? Do you know what brand of equipment they use? I also would be interested in knowing how your on-site assessment went with Solar City in Henderson. Was their initial proposal close to what the engineers determined on-site?

All my 3 sisters and their families reside in detached homes and their electricity on average during Summer is around $300.00. I can see a family residing in a house but for a single man or a couple without kids, a detached home might not be the most economical. There is always a trade off but goodluck to the OP.
