Check with your waste company. They should have a day they will haul it away.

If you're buying a replacement for it, most places will haul away the old one for free.

^^This. Republic has "heavy days" where you can put out large / bulk items. They are fussy about mattresses. If there is any visible staining, you need to wrap the mattress in plastic. 1 box of Saran Wrap and you're all set.

I believe if you call Salvation Army they may take it provided it is in good condition (i.e., no tears, stains, etc.). If they will not take it, I believe they once referred me to another local charity which might be interested.

They won't take it nor will any of the other charities, it's illegal for them to sell used mattresses in NV.

It was probably about three years ago when I called them, and I am fairly certain they said they would take a mattress if it was in good condition. I understand that they cannot sell used mattresses so perhaps they intended to use it for shelter or transitional housing. In fact, if you look at their donation value guide, they even list mattresses under Furniture Donations: The Salvation Army Family Stores: Donation Value Guide.

We put out our two twin box springs on bulk day the night before, and they were gone before morning. They were in excellent condition, so hopefully someone took them to use them. They were not wrapped.
I think it's different for mattresses. Have to wrap them up for bulk to take.
