An acquaintance, who like Las Vegas & wants others to,
Suggested I go to Spring Preserve. I checked their
Website & they have a lot more than botanical gardens.
Anyone been there in the last year or so?

Took my grandson there, last summer. At the time he was 5 and we both had an excellent time.

The parking spaces are covered with panels, which was appreciated. We had a very good lunch at the Springs Cafe. The outdoor eating area affords a nice view, as the little guy insisted on eating outside.

I was there this last October, before Halloween. If you like museum type stuff, then you will like it. Lots of walking outside. Nice trails. I would not go again, but I think it's a great place for the kids, very educational. The petting zoo was not in operation at the time we were there, but that would have been fun too. For all ages.

I've always had a membership although I usually only go twice per year. I got the membership because I have a kid. If it was closer to the house, I'd definitely take more advantage of it. Wolfgang Puck used to be associated with the restaurant there, although I'm not sure if that's still the case. Anyone who lives in lLas Vegas would benefit in at least one trip to learn how quick and dangerous flash floods can be in the desert. There were exhibits on conservation and how to grow things here. I recently purchased tickets to their Mardi Gras ON March 8th from 4p-8p. I sure hope the food is good.

I've only been there once and really enjoyed it. They had an amazing raptor show in the auditorium when I went there -- owls, ravens and hawks flying around inside. I'm thinking though that it was a special exhibit. I understand that from now until early May they have full sized models of machines designed by Leonard da Vinci. I'm planning to take my grandkids to the Preserve when they come into town at the end of April. Well worth a visit.

I was just there last week to see the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit. The grounds are nicely done, but it's mostly for kids... I call it "field trip bait". I probably won't be back unless there's a special exhibit, but I'm glad I went once.

I like the Springs Preserve and am also, like Maxie, planning on attending the Mardi Gras event. From what I understand, they have a nice farmer's market in the warmer months, though I have never been there at that time.

I (like a poster above) saw the raptor exhibit, but what cracked me up was the fact that the week we chose to go, the big exhibit was "The Scoop on Poop". It was an educational exhibit about scat and identifying native animals based on it. Very educational for kids, and lots of giggles for them, too.
