I generally avoid chain restaurants where possible. However, I've ended up a various Ruth's Chrises for various reasons (the main reason usually that I wasn't paying.) I have to say, I've never had a bad meal or a bad steak.

Ugh. Please tell me LV has better than Ruth's Chris with all those famous chefs out there. I thought Craftsteak was supposed to be the nuts.

Craftsteak, Carnevino, Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse, Stripsteak, etc. Yeah, you can get a nice steak in this town.

In Vegas, I went to Craftsteak, and wasn't impressed. I went to Delmonico in the Venetian, and was more impressed.

Same here, the steak I had at Craftsteak wasn't as good as I've had at other restaurants, and the vegetables, which are supposed to be Collichio's signature, were nothing special either. Bone-in Ribeye at Delmonico Steakhouse (pictured below) has been consistently good, though I've heard other cuts there are not as good (I've never tried them). Also worth trying are the butter-poached, grill-finished steaks at Michael Mina's Stripsteak, at Mandalay Bay.

I had the boneless NY Strip, which was as good as that cut is going to be.

For those who say they didn't care for the steak at Craftsteak and others:

1) What kind of beef did you order: dry-aged Angus? Prime? Japanese Wagyu?

2) What cut?

3) What doneness?

Seriously, if people pooh-pooh these restaurants, what can their expectations possibly be? If these restaurants aren't good enough, WHAT IS? I can see people saying, "I don't think the meal was a good value considering the shocking prices for everything." (But that comes down to the fact that the raw ingredients are expensive, good cooks and chefs don't work cheap, and the casino takes their large cut for rent, or usually just takes a percentage off the top.) But to finish a steak at Gordon Ramsay steakhouse or Carnevino and say, "meh, it's not very good," what IS good enough?

Dry-aged Angus, bone-in ribeye, medium-rare at Craftsteak. It just wasn't as good as the same cut, prepared to the same doneness, at the ones I've had at Delmonico Steakhouse, Vic & Anthony's, or any Michael Mina restaurant. That day that I ate at Craftsteak, it just wasn't that good. Given that other steakhouses have been consistently reliable, I don't need to take another chance on Craftsteak.
