Can anyone give some input, please? We are empty nesters, in our early 50's, looking to move from DFW to either Las Vegas or Henderson - Maybe even the GVR area? Or Lake Las Vegas?

*Husband is in the airline industry and would be commuting to/from SFO.

*We don't mind living near an airport - as the noise doesn't bother us.

*We would be looking to rent a SFH (not an apartment) for something around $1000 or less if possible.
Looking to live in a safe area. Doesn't matter that housing is not near the strip. Although it'd be nice to go there from time to time to do things like eat at the buffets or see some shows, we are not gamblers.

What do utilities run approximately?

Thanks for any input y'all could give. It's greatly appreciated!

I can only speak for Green Valley, but the price seems a bit low that you've budgeted per month. $1000 is what apartments are renting for in the area. Other than that, we are 12 minutes from the airport, but don't hear the planes, and our utilities run $150-$200/mo or so as a year-round average. We're in a SFH.

A SFH anywhere in the LV valley that is decent is going to cost upwards of $1000 per month. You can forget about Lake Las Vegas on that budget. Green Valley is nice, though I rarely get out there. They have lots of dining options and I enjoy going to the District at GVR.
