Unfortunately there is a contingent of those with handicapped relatives who will use the hang-tag for their own purposes.

However that does not mean that the people you see are not, in fact, handicapped - either by breathing problems, pain, heart conditions, circulation, poor muscle control or balance.

And not all the "fat pigs" are that way because they eat piggishly. Some of us got that way after years of being very physically active because we can't keep up the level of physical exercise we used to. In my case I have an actual metabolic condition that I kept under control for decades via medication and rigorous exercise. Now that I can't do the exercise any more, the pounds pile on.

You can't tell who needs the hang tag just by looking. At least your friend's need is only temporary - and in fact if she is in a wheel chair anyway, its not any extra physical exertion for her anyway.

She didn't drive anymore at that point, but the placard was so that Dad could take her places.(Like the grocery store.)

The only places I've seen a dearth of handicapped spots are at medical facilities (especially dialysis facilities) and the Palms casino.

Actually they don't go with general public. There is a separate line for chairs...and strollers qualify

If we would stop treating obesity as a handicap, those spaces would be plenty available.
The last thing we need are more handicapped parking spaces.
We should, instead, make the morbidly obese park at the far end, clearing up, up front parking for those of us with self control.

I witnessed a miracle today. At SJC, a fat cow of a woman who could not walk without aid was wheeled down the jetway, and boarded the plane early before everyone else, along with her companion. After the 70 minute flight, she stood up, deplaned without any aid, and walked, with her luggage in tow, all the way from the C12 gate to the tram boarding area. Praise Jebus! It's a MIRACLE!

Miracle that she didn't have to stop on the way for some twinkies.
