The answer is always the same: n+1

Some people actually do need higher speeds. Not everyone uses the internet for just email and facebook. I just bumped my office connection to 50/10, and I have 150/20 (the fastest they offer) at home. I wish I could get gigabit. I move a lot of data, and no, I'm not a pirate or any of that.

Does a bump in their customer service come with also? If not, I'll wait for Verizon or Google.

customer service for what?

I always hear this talk and I ask myself... "have you had 4-5 years of exemplary service delivery that required absolutely ZERO interface with Cox Co.?"

The answer is always the same, yes.

Once you take into account that most people now stream video, often on multiple devices simultaneously, play games online etc, there is no limit.

My answer is a resounding "NO!". I end up having to deal with a Cox problem once every 4-6 months, easy!

50 megs that ends up only being 5 in the real world when the entire node is saturated with too many users. Thanks but no thanks.

Exactly...for one reason or another I end up having to deal with them. Glad for the bump.

I don't know if Cox has actually implemented this or not, because I called them yesterday to ask about it, and the rep didn't know when the speeds were going to be increased. But my Netflix was streaming at 28Mbps last night, when my connection is normally pegged at 25 Mbps (with Speedboost.) Just checked it now, and the Cos speed app (which, admittedly, tends to read fast), is claiming 33 Mbps.

Anyone have an inside track as to when Cox is doubling the speeds for Las Vegas? I just dropped from Ultimate to Premier ($30 less), but it is still at 50Mbps. They aren't upping the Ultimate speed, so it is impossible for me to justify that monthly $30 expense.

This article (click) claims "A Cox spokeswoman said the following markets will see the speed increase this month (July): Omaha; Neb.; Sun Valley, Idaho; Kansas; Arkansas; Arizona; and Las Vegas. The MSO plans to introduce the upgrade across all markets by the end of 2014." Obviously that date has already passed.

Interestingly the Cox.com main site banner now advertises that they are doubling their speeds, but the "Learn More" link doesn't have any information.
