The "feel" of the heat might be a little better since you aren't in direct sun, but the air temps are not coming down much. The real relief if there is any starts around 1am and the low temp of the day usually happens right around dawn.

Hydration is very difficult to keep up in summer weather, one really shouldn't be out doing anything more than walking. Anything more strenuous is best kept inside.

Yes, very true, but everyone is different. Some people can't tolerate the heat at all, whether it be night or day. Others can tolerate a lot of heat and sun. I often wonder how the landscapers tolerate it, out there working so hard every day in the heat and full sun.

Guess it depends on what you get used to.

Monday through Friday, majority of Nellis Air Force base is exercising(PT) in the early hours between 6-8am.

We do this during all four seasons. Just seems the earlier the better.

What von says (military). We are working our Soldiers 0700-0800 all summer long using Crossfit and medium run iterations. Acclimation, hydration, make use of shade for the Crossfit the vast majority of the time. Runs longer than 4 - 4.5 miles, we'll start requiring either water bottle or hydration pack.

On personal long runs during the summer / early fall, I prefer the first hour (s) of light to take advantage of the thermal release. Which means ungodly early around midsummer. Sad face. I MAY see one other runner in that time.

winter-rabbit: no thanks. The required effort vs output just doesn't work for most. Multiple minutes off a "normal" pace and the increased heat stress just doesn't seem worth it to most. If works for you...cool. Just be careful.

Try it out for a few times. YOu be surprise your body adapts. I usually limit to 3 miles due to lunch hour and extra time required to cool off to shower.

We take our morning walk starting around 4:25 - before any direct sunlight, a 2 mile track that starts across the street and takes up around :45. The upper 70F / 21C lows have been nice and we know eventually it'll be in the 90s at that time of day. It's a year round thing that we maintain.

Its still early, see how you feel in about a month. Be very careful about this, just takes one bad day for your body to find out it wasn't such a good idea after all.
