There was a minister several years ago that came to town to convince us all to do away with evil gambling. Just before he was laughed out of town he was reminded that if it weren't for gambling there wouldn't be a Las Vegas.

I don't think that is true. Anyplace in the desert with water will always have a town. Without the tourist and gambling it might be 100,000 people.

There are many mormons who run this county. I dont hear any of them preaching against gambling.

I think Las Vegas has the most chruches per capita i the US. Not sure if this is accurate but i've heard this stat before.

Sounds like a lot of inaccurate generalities to me. Did one of the non-resident Las Vegas haters write that? The author sounds like he's not from here.

It used to be true that we had more schools and churches per capita than any other town, but I doubt if that is still true with the mass influx of people overwhelming the construction of such institutions.

I doubt that Las Vegas would have 100,000 people if there was no gambling. It would probably look like Victorville though. How many do they have?

Not sure, but I think that by the time gambling was made legal in the 30s it was already more than that.
