I recently read (but can't remember where ) that in 1907 the population of Las Vegas was 30. Anyone know if that's true? Thx in advance!

Las Vegas was established in 1905 on some auction. I would suspect you can't hold an auction with 30 people. Earliest reference I can find say Vegas had 800 residents in 1911...Clark County had over 3,000.

From what I've seen of the stats, the population of Las Vegas (Clark County) seems to have doubled roughly every ten years since it was founded in 1905.

1930 Las Vegas grows to a population of 5,165.

Thank you all! I went to the Web site and e-mailed them with my question. I also asked what the population was at LV's inception in 1905. Boy, we really are a young city!

And to get back on topic, the church I attend--Spiritual Life Center/First Church of Religious Science--has yet to even acknowledge the gaming industry. Frankly, I think Rev. Doug would be thrilled if I won a jackot at the slots. We believe in infinite supply...who gives a dang how it appears, as long as it's legal and doesn't hurt anyone else. No stuffy dogma here! WOOF!

I lived in Vegas for 8 years and I'm moving back...never gambled and if anything I made good money. Green Valley is a very nice area and its very clean compared to most cities...Vegas is not evil.
