There are better ways to get to California. Servicemen would dread assignment at Nellis. It would be the worst assignment in the military instead of being considered one of the best.

Moving to Las Vegas and saying "I could take or leave the Strip" is like moving to the moon and saying, "Breathable atmosphere? I could take it or leave it." Whether we like the Strip or not, there wouldn't be a town worth mentioning without it.
For me it would be "if",

If all things were equal, with or without, it would not matter to us. And, yes, we are moving there next month.

If it was not there and the cost of living skyrocketed then no. There are places we would choose over Las Vegas.

Make a video and pick your nose! I can't follow what he's saying at the beginning because he keeps picking at his nose. I gave up. No class whatsoever.

You did not miss a thing. His only correct point was it gets hot in the summer. We and many others like the heat...we tend to go away in January when we find it too cold.

The rest is just the standard negativity virtually all of which is wrong or heavily overstated. Crime is not a problem and has never been and is in fact decreasing. The schools are quite bad at the bottom but the upper end are fine. Housing is still a very good deal particularly with respect to California. Traffic is actually quite nice in comparison to California or Arizona or any of the big cities of the east.

I also dislike the smoking and really wish they would ban it at least the strip. Something to work on.

In regards to the smoking. Just where am I going to run into smoking in the area? If its basically Casino's that's fine. I won't be in them very much. I know there is a ban in restaurants, or so I have been told. Is that correct I'm safe in the restaurants? I'm not one to be around a lot of smokers.

You'll find smoking in casinos and bars (for the most part). Some bars, clubs, and venues are non-smoking as well, so you just have to check them out. As far as restaurants, the "smoking" restaurants tend to be the taverns (PTs, Village Pub, etc).

We found some places in LV that erected floor to ceiling glass walls to separate the bars from the restaurant areas and it seemed to work okay. I remember here when a smoking area would be separated from a non-smoking by a pony wall.

Yeah, that works.

Or one particular casino back East that put non-smoking on the second floor ABOVE the smoking section.. excellent planning LOL

I think most of the opinions of the guy in the video are just wack...

OFCOURSE Vegas is a better city to live in if you have lots of money...what city isn't???

And I think Vegas has a greater number of affordable offerings than many major cities.

I didn't find his video to be objective at all.
