Sorry if this has been discussed before, but most threads I see on the subject are a few years old.
I am curious about the average water usage in Henderson. We are in our home for about 7 months now. Our house is about 3,000 sq. ft. with a pool and landscape irrigation. Aside from the usual domestic water usage (daily showers, laundry every few days, etc.) for 2 adults, I don't feel that we are wasteful with water.
Our usage shows a steady increase and our last bill indicated 33,000 gals for the month! That seems extremely high to me. I've asked our friends and co-workers, and our bill is absolutely higher than everyone else's.
I'm wonder if I could get some feedback here. Is anyone else using water in these amounts? Could my pool or irrigation system have a leak?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Haven't you checked your water meter yet? Make sure no water is being used -- irrigation is off, pool isn't filling, no washer/dishwasher, toilets aren't filling. Nothing.

Then check the water meter and see if the little red indicator is spinning. If it is, you have a leak. It's that simple.

EDIT -- But if appx. 20,000 gallons of water are leaking on your property, the fact that it's like walking on quicksand might be your best indicator.

If you have a pool in the desert you are being wasteful with water.

I suppose we could get rid of the pool.

I have a pool and 2000 sq ft home with desert landscaping and we use about 9,000 gallons per month. 2 adults and I take 2 showers a day and do laundry once a week. My bill is 30-40 bucks

Pools are only bad when you have a leak. Culprit usually is a bad autofill float valve. Pool cover also helps with evaporation.

I wasn't so lucky. I wish my leak was the autofill float. It was a leak just past that, and I had to spend $1800 to have them dig up the deck and replace.

Auto fills are awesome to have, but it can be costly to repair a leak that is related to the actual water supply pipe.
